Dillard University

April 26, 2018

Reconstructed after being devastated in Hurricane Katrina, this 57,000 square foot structure was designed by Campo Architects to bring the students and surrounding community together by including a bookstore, fitness center, bowling alley, retail space and food court alongside much needed local healthcare services. As the community had traditionally used the campus for the chapel and library, this became a great opportunity to highlight the lesson of community involvement to students and local young people alike.

Local General Contractor Landis Construction worked closely with the designer to ensure this reconstruction filled all of the school’s needs. The building is LEED Gold certified to further illustrate the university’s commitment to community.
