McDougall Awarded Massive ACM Project at UVMC

The University of Vermont Medical Center has begun an expansion project to bring their facility up to par with their nationally recognized level of service and care. The hospital teamed with MorrisSwitzer Environments for Health Architecture to design a 180,000 SF seven-floor inpatient building that will connect to existing medical buildings already on campus. Focusing on improved healing quality and time for patients and their families, the hospital will be increasing their single-occupancy rate from 30% to 90%. UVMC has chosen The Whiting Turner Contracting Company as construction manager and Neagley & Chase Construction Company as General Contractor.

John W. McDougall Co., Inc. has been a part of this project from the beginning, working with UVMC and the architects in design assist capacity. We helped in the process of choosing materials which would pull the project into budget using comparable projects in our portfolio while still achieving the same aesthetic value. We also provided detailing between the trades to ensure building and structure integrity.

Following the design assist portion of the project, John W. McDougall Co. was awarded the 73,000 SF wall panel portion of the project which will utilize our Series 400 Rainscreen System. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2019.
