The 805 Lea project in Nashville, Tennessee, is a prime example of John W. McDougall’s advanced engineering and architectural capabilities. Located at 805 Lea Ave, this 33-story high-rise was completed in 2020. The project utilized McDougall’s 900 Series Genesis system, with tube and plate systems used for the garage (floors 1-7) and Genesis panels on floors 7-33. McDougall fabricated and installed 7,271 panels, made from .080 aluminum and 16 gauge blackened stainless steel, with most aluminum panels measuring 3′ x 9′ and featuring minimal face distortion. Notably, this project marked the first use of the Genesis system arranged vertically, which required custom engineering to meet the building’s specific design needs. It also introduced the use of 16 gauge blackened stainless steel in the Genesis system, which was oxidized to create a natural, unpainted finish. The building’s facade, excluding the glass elements, was entirely made up of McDougall’s systems. Throughout the project, McDougall worked closely with the architect, Turner Construction, and the building’s owner to ensure the design met both aesthetic and budgetary requirements, showcasing the company’s ability to deliver innovative, tailored solutions for complex high-rise developments.
