Architectural Division Drafter/Designer

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum two-year Engineering degree
  • Ability to read architectural drawings
  • Knowledge of use for AutoCAD 2D & 3D

Responsibilities Summary:

Responsible for preparing technical drawings to be used for production and installation of various types of panels and other products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Using computer aided design and drafting systems to prepare drawings
  • Draw detailed shop drawings for panels included in our scope of work based on architectural drawings, estimating information, specification sheets and other data
  • Design and draft technical details to satisfy architectural intensions and our typical attachment methods
  • Create material buy list for all products on job
  • Draw detailed layouts of buildings based on preliminary concepts and field conditions
  • Design and draft fabrication sketches for each panel to satisfy CNC and production standards, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data
  • Create set of drawings for panel installation including all necessary data required
  • Enter, record, store and maintain information in written or electronic form
  • Provide information to supervisors, co-workers and subordinates by telephone, written form, email or in person
  • Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary
  • Monitor and review information from materials to detect or assess problems, check material uage through lifetime of job
  • Schedule work to compile with delivery dates

Architectural Division Estimator

 

Job Requirements:

  • Education & Training: Minimum of high school graduation with additional college-level courses (2 years). Training will need to show that the candidate is familiar with architectural and structural drawings and the relationship with 3D visualization. Will need to exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years experience in the manufacturing/construction-related industry. Proven skills in commercial architectural and structural drawings reading, understanding and interpretation.
  • Other: Self-motivated with the ability to produce independently, strong communication skills, working knowledge of computerized spreadsheets and high standards of honesty, integrity and commitment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performing the duties of estimating proposed construction projects
  • Quoting and tracking national accounts
  • Reporting new leads to the Architectural Sales Manager or the Estimating Manager

Secondary Functions:

  • Receive and prioritize customers' project drawings and requests for quotes
  • Quickly and accurately interpret commercial architectural and structural drawings
  • Make comprehensive analysis of project scope
  • Make an accurate takeoff of all materials required
  • Keep records of upcoming quotes
  • Review completed summary of project with General Manager or Estimating Manager
  • Maintain quote files in orderly manner
  • Once the project is set up, the Estimator must lead a project start-up meeting to discuss and convey scope to Project Manager and Draftsperson

Architectural Division Project Manager

 

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in the wall panel and/or glass markets
  • Ability to manage costs
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel (including air travel)

Architectural Division Laborer/Crater

 

Job Requirements:

  • We are a drug-free workplace so you must pass a pre-employment drug screening to qualify for this job
  • Must be familiar with a tape measure, saws, hand tools, nail guns and other general tools
  • Must be capable of frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs and assist with heavy material lifts
  • Strength to push/pull up to 250 lbs using mechanical aids such as hand trucks, dollies, motorized carts, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Employees are frequently required to squat, crouch, kneel and reach overhead
  • Stamina to stand, walk and climb stairs for entire work shift

Architectural Division Specialty Worker/Assembler

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must know basic math
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be proficient with small hand tools

Architectural Division UNION Installer Superintendents

 

Summary:

We have major jobs coming up in Minneapolis, Denver and Vermont that require a skilled, union foreman for installation of exterior wall panels and products. We are looking for experienced foremen who have run crews on large jobs in high-paced environments. These jobs are available immediately.

A Union Superintendent provides the knowledge, guidance, experience and skills to manage the day-to-day operations of onsite construction projects. As Superintendent, you will be responsible for all production and installation aspects of the project including producing quality work that is within standards of both the project contract and John W. McDougall Co., Inc., prepare for and maintain our company’s access to and presence on the job site within the guidelines of the project’s owners and/or contractor/construction manager, performing all work in the most timely and cost effective manner, and maintaining a work environment that is safe and consistently kept clean. As Superintendent, you will be acting as a representative of John W. McDougall Co., Inc. and will be held responsible for creating and maintaining a professional work environment that includes maintaining a positive atmosphere, promoting effective communication, facilitating problem solving and resolving any conflict that arises.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction industry with a commercial contractor
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in wall construction
  • An understanding of the commercial construction market, methods and site work
  • A working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Must not be afraid of heights
  • Proficiency with email, general technology, and basic office and other industry related software
  • Understanding of project schedules and the ability to effectively adhere
  • Understanding of project budgeting and the ability to keep project costs within the perimeters of budgets

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day activities in the field to ensure milestones and overall project schedules are met
  • Create your own short term project schedules to ensure proper onsite materials, equipment, labor needs, etc. and communicate those needs when necessary
  • Maintain a work culture that values quality, safety, respect and order
  • Verifying and ensuring that all work is performed to the standards of quality set by John W. McDougall Co., Inc.
  • Inspect or obtain inspections to ensure the quality of physical work are fully documented
  • Ensure our worksite, labor and all aspects of the project are compliant with contract terms and legal requirements of the location where our work is being performed
  • Administer all worksite programs required by contract terms and requested by customers such as quality control, safety, etc.
  • Conduct and attend pre-construction, progress and other project meetings required by both the customers and John W. McDougall Co., Inc.
  • Meet with customers or their representatives regularly to discuss project status, identify potential problems and create resolutions
  • Ensure that all work is being performed within the established project budget
  • Manage punch list and project closeout process to assure completion
  • Create daily paperwork such as labor time, field reports, schedule updates, material/equipment requisitions, and email correspondence
  • Communicate with supporting work groups such as purchasing, HR, payroll, safety, project manager, etc. to ensure each group has proper time to accommodate your needs for all aspects of the jobsite
  • Manage workloads to include proper training, mentoring and follow up
  • Facilitate and participate in staff seeking professional development
